Half-time Project Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]
Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Development of specific tools and devices for space exploration”. The appointee will be required to:
(a) assist in applying and optimising advanced coating methods to enhance the durability, functionality and performance of the tools and devices;
(b) apply and refine various coating techniques, including electroplating, anodizing, PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) and other surface treatments to prototype components;
(c) ensure precise and uniform coating application while adhering to project specifications;
(d) conduct quality checking to assess coating adhesion, thickness and resistance against environmental factors (e.g., corrosion, wear, thermal stress);
(e) maintain and calibrate coating equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards;
(f) collaborate with the project team to troubleshoot and improve coating processes; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) an honours degree or an equivalent qualification; and
(b) hands-on experience in surface engineering and coating techniques, including electroplating, anodising, PVD or similar processes.
Preference will be given to those with familiarity in surface characterisation methods (e.g., microscopy, thickness measurement).
