Part-time Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the project – “Execution assurance for autonomous dining: Enabling safe and trusted agentic commerce”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    assist in implementing AI agent workflows, execution policy rules and system testing;

(b)    support data collection, experiment management, evaluation and benchmarking of AI agent systems;

(c)    conduct literature reviews on agentic AI, autonomous commerce, intelligent robotics and AI safety;

(d)    assist in software testing, documentation, prototype demonstrations and project administration;

(e)    support user studies and pilot deployments with industrial collaborators; and

(f)     perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, the Head of Unit or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    an honours degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline or an equivalent qualification;

(b)    strong programming skills in Python, with experience with C++, Java or Go being an advantage;

(c)    familiarity with RESTful APIs, Docker, databases and software engineering best practices; and

(d)    strong problem-solving ability and teamwork skills.

Preference will be given to those with experience in one or more of the following areas: large language models, AI agents, backend development, distributed systems, IoT systems, cloud computing and/or robotics integration.

Conditions of Service

The remuneration rate is HK$125 per hour.
