Research Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellow

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project – “EnergyKnow: Knowledge-driven smart building energy management with heterogeneous energy systems”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    develop and integrate knowledge-graph and AI methods for heterogeneous building-energy data; 

(b)    build load/renewable-generation forecasting and PV–ESS–HVAC energy optimisation/control models; 

(c)    implement data pipelines, Python APIs and visualisation; 

(d)    deploy and evaluate the integrated platform at external trial site; 

(e)    prepare technical reports, demonstrations and research publications; and 

(f)     perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, the Head of Unit or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Fellow post should have a doctoral degree in in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Electrical/Energy Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline plus at least three years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications and experience.

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree in one of the afore-mentioned disciplines and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

For both posts, preference will be given to those with strong Python/programming and research skills, and experience in graphs/ontologies, machine learning, optimisation/control, time-series forecasting, BMS/HVAC, PV or ESS.
