[Appointment period: each for six months]

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Joint research centre for primary health care”.  They will be required to:

(a)    design, develop, test, deploy and maintain a cross-platform mobile application for clients and a web-based management portal for healthcare and research professionals, from prototype development to pilot implementation;

(b)    collaborate closely with the research team to develop configurable intervention templates, decision rules and data pipelines that translate intervention protocols into automated or semi-automated care workflows;

(c)    develop and integrate AI-assisted functions, such as intelligent question-and-answer functions, information retrieval, note summarisation, and appropriate escalation mechanisms, with appropriate privacy, security and safety safeguards;

(d)    develop and maintain secure databases and backend systems and ensure appropriate data management, access control, data integrity and system security;

(e)    develop tools and dashboards to enable the research team to monitor participant engagement, intervention delivery, system usage and study outcomes;

(f)     conduct system testing, troubleshooting, documentation, maintenance and technical support during research implementation;

(g)    work with researchers, healthcare professionals, community partners and other stakeholders to refine the digital platform according to study and implementation needs; and

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline or a good honours degree in one of the said disciplines with at least three years of research/relevant work experience.  

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree in a computing-related discipline or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should also have: 

(a)    a proven track record in full-stack software development, with the ability to design, develop, deploy and maintain production systems;

(b)    proficiency in cross-platform mobile development frameworks, such as Flutter or React Native, and web/backend technologies, such as Node.js, Python, React.js, or Next.js;

(c)    experience in integrating AI models or large language models;

(d)    experience in digital health, HealthTech, healthcare applications or technology-enabled intervention programmes;

(e)    a good command of written and spoken English; and

(f)     strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills.

Preference will be given to those with (i) knowledge of data security, privacy, authentication and secure system development, particularly in healthcare or research settings; and (ii) proficiency in Cantonese.
