Research Assistant

[Appointment period: six months]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Children of the massive layoff: Intergenerational effects of parental job loss under China’s state-owned enterprise reform”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    conduct literature review and meta-analyses;

(b)    assist in quantitative/qualitative data collection, management and analysis;

(c)    assist in writing research reports, policy briefs and academic publications; and

(d)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree in Social Sciences, preferably with specialisation in Demography, Economics, Political Science or an equivalent qualification;

(b)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(c)    have experience in using Stata, R, Python or other statistical software;

(d)    have strong interpersonal and communication skills;

(e)    demonstrate a high standard of work ethics; 

(f)     be self-motivated and detail-oriented; and

(g)    be a good team player and able to work independently.
