Project Associate / Project Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties

The appointee will support the operations of the Hong Kong Palace Museum – PolyU Joint Chinese Textile Centre (HKPM-JCTC), a collaborative initiative between PolyU and HKPM.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    plan, coordinate, and execute communications and regular engagement activities for JCTC Principal Investigators (PIs);

(b)    serve as the primary point of contact to address enquiries from PIs;

(c)    monitor project progress and provide operational or administrative support to PIs as needed;

(d)    arrange internal and external meetings, and manage ongoing liaison and communication with key stakeholders; 

(e)    coordinate and implement promotional and outreach activities, including events, seminars, workshops, and exhibitions for the Centre;

(f)     liaise with internal departments and external partners on event management and project execution;

(g)    provide comprehensive administrative support to the Centre’s management team; and

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work on irregular hours, including evenings and Saturdays, depending on project needs.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Project Associate post should have a good honours degree preferably in any subject in the Humanities, Language Studies, Communication, Public Relations or a related discipline, with three or more years of relevant work experience in administrative support and/or event management.

Applicants for the Project Assistant post should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification in the above-mentioned disciplines, or a related discipline. Preference will be given to those with at least one year of relevant work experience in administrative support and/or event management.

For both posts, applicants should also:

(a)    have experience in organising academic or museum-related events and activities; 

(b)    have a proven track record of communicating and liaising with diverse organisations and institutions;

(c)    have a strong command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua and Cantonese preferred;

(d)    possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills;

(e)    be self-motivated, able to work independently within a team and be a good team player; and

(f)     demonstrate a high willingness to learn new skills and adapt to dynamic tasks.
