Assistant Officer

Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) perform general accounting and purchasing duties, including financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, accounting and purchasing operations;
(b) consolidate the Department’s accounts and budgets, and support the financial management of academic and research programmes and activities organised by the Department;
(c) support the administration of academic and research activities;
(d) support for human resources-related administrative tasks;
(e) assist in compiling various kinds of reports and presentation materials as well as maintaining record systems effectively;
(f) handle general office administration including coordination of departmental space and office facilities etc,;
(g) handle written and verbal enquiries; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree with at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience and a good track record in programme administration, accounting & purchasing operations, financial system support or related fields;
(b) good understanding of online payment facilities, purchasing processes, cost allocation, financial reporting and budget management in tertiary institutions or similar organisations;
(c) solid and hands-on experience and strong technical knowledge of implementation and support of management information systems, such as Oracle Financials, etc.;
(d) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage;
(e) good problem solving skills and computer literacy, including Chinese word processing, PowerPoint and Excel;
(f) the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines; and
(g) good analytical, organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills, and the ability to work independently within a team.
Preference will be given to those with relevant work experience in tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
