Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate / Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) (two posts)

[Appointment period: each for twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research projects - “One size does not fit all: Abandoning the ‘Static α = 0.7 Cutoff’ in favor of a context-sensitive approach to ‘Dynamic α Cutoffs’ ” and/or “A refined approach for second stage moderated mediation analysis”.  They will be required to:

(a)    use programming platforms (such as R or Python) to conduct Monte Carlo simulation study;

(b)    develop web applications for statistical methods (such as R shiny web app);

(c)    draft manuscripts and proposals;

(d)    support related research activities; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree, preferably in Quantitative Psychology, Applied Statistics, Data Sciences or other related disciplines and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree or a good honours degree, preferably in one of the above-mentioned disciplines with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree, preferably in one of the above-mentioned disciplines.

Applicants should also:

(a)    have experience in writing research papers and proposals;

(b)    have a solid track record in conducting methodological research;

(c)    be proficient in using different programming platforms and statistical software (such as R, Python, Mplus or SPSS);

(d)    have good academic English writing skills with publications in refereed journals;

(e)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese including Cantonese;

(f)     be self-motivated, well-organised, detail-minded and able to multi-task; and

(g)    be responsible and able to work independently.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointments, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.

For part-time appointments, the remuneration rates are HK$385 per hour for the post of Postdoctoral Fellow, HK$181 per hour for the post of Research Associate and HK$125 per hour for the post of Research Assistant.
