Research Assistant Professor in Healthy Ageing

Established in 1977, the School of Nursing supports the mission of the University by nurturing graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders.  It ranks 18th for the best School of Nursing internationally (QS Ranking 2026).  The education, research, consultancy and integrative health services are driven by a commitment to improve health of the community.  Currently, it has a total of around 80 full-time faculty members.  Due to continuous success in our research programmes, we have several openings for qualified health professionals to join this dynamic and leading School of Nursing in Asia.

Duties

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    conduct research in the area of gerontechnology, with a particular focus on managing frailty-related symptoms, as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund as well as Health and Medical Research Fund, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;

(b)    provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level;

(c)    contribute to departmental service;

(d)    conduct research that leads to publications in refereed journals and award of research grants;

(e)    engage in applied research, creative development and consultancy projects in relation to cancer nursing;

(f)     contribute to the development of the School’s gerontology research theme and participate in its activities; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a PhD degree in Nursing, Gerontology, Health Sciences, Public Health, Statistic, Data Science or a related discipline, preferably with at least two years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of appointment; 

(b)    demonstrate potential for conducting high-quality research and securing external research funding;

(c)    be proficient in the use of statistical software, such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or equivalent analytical tools;

(d)    have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field; and

(e)    be highly proficient in written and spoken English.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two to three years initially, with possibility of extension.
