Part-time Project Associate / Project Assistant (two posts)

Duties
The appointees will assist the project leader in the project - “Communication Practice and Assessment Simulation System (COMPASS): A pilot study in optometry communication training”. This role focuses on the technical design, development, implementation and iteration of the software application. They will be required to:
(a) design, develop and maintain the software application, including the chat interface, user dashboards and feedback modules;
(b) assist in the development and integration of Augmented Reality (AR) modules that simulate visual/hearing symptoms, using relevant AR development kits and platforms;
(c) collaborate with the project coordinator and clinical content experts to translate educational scenarios and requirements into functional and interactive software features;
(d) build, test and deploy prototypes and iterate on the application based on user testing and feedback;
(e) assist in developing the assessment rubrics and feedback mechanisms used within the application to evaluate student performance; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Project Associate post should have a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI or related technical disciplines or a good honours degree in the said disciplines with three or more years of relevant software/system development experience.
Applicants for the Project Assistant post should have an honours degree in the above-mentioned disciplines or an equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to those with one or more years of relevant software/system development experience.
Applicants should also have:
(a) demonstrable experience in building and deploying applications; experience with AI/chatbot development, Natural Language Processing (NLP), or LLM APIs is highly desirable;
(b) experience with AR/VR development platforms, UI/UX design, or database management would be a significant advantage; and
(c) good communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work effectively in a team.

Conditions of Service
The remuneration rates are HK$181 per hour for the post of Project Associate and HK$125 per hour for the post of Project Assistant.
