Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Improving vision and quality of life in patients with glaucoma using non-invasive brain stimulation and perceptual learning: A randomized clinical trial”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    perform collection, organization and preliminary analysis of data (training will be provided);

(b)    assist with literature reviews and data compilation;

(c)    support day-to-day laboratory management and equipment maintenance; 

(d)    assist in the preparation of research reports and conference materials; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification, preferably with one year of relevant research or work experience;

(b)    have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese including Putonghua with fluency in Cantonese being an advantage; 

(c)    be proficient in basic computer applications (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and  Multimedia); familiarity with R, Python, or MATLAB will be an advantage;

(d)    demonstrate strong willingness to learn and good teamwork skills; and 

(e)    be responsible, detail-oriented and have a conscientious work attitude.

Preference will be given to those with experience in experimental research and data analysis.
