Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate / Project Associate / Research Assistant / Project Assistant (several posts)

[Appointment period: each for twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Early identification and intervention for children and youth in at-risk families”.  They will be required to:

(a)    support the project leader and the project manager/coordinator in daily project operations;

(b)    assist in planning and implementing all aspects of the project, including training and research;

(c)    support the development and implementation of project and research design;

(d)    assist in data management and data analysis;

(e)    prepare reports, training materials, publicity materials and correspondence;

(f)     liaise with internal departments, administrative units and external organisations to execute various events, activities and programmes;

(g)    assist in logistics and administrative work; and

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

The appointees may be required to work irregular hours occasionally.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree, preferably in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other related disciplines and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

Applicants for the Research Associate or Project Associate post should have a master’s degree in one of the above-mentioned disciplines or a good honours degree with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.

Applicants for the Research Assistant or Project Assistant post should have an honours degree in one of the above-mentioned disciplines or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should also:

(a)    be interested in family and youth development in Hong Kong;

(b)    have experience in assisting in large-scale projects;

(c)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese including Putonghua;

(d)    have proficiency in computer skills, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat;

(e)    have good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;

(f)     be highly self-motivated, result-oriented, able to work under pressure, dynamic, and mature;

(g)    have a passion for building and sustaining strong relationships with stakeholders; and

(h)    be a good team player and able to work independently.

Preference will be given to those with work experience in tertiary institutions or similar organisations, and/or at-risk families and youth work settings as well as a strong sense of creativity and aesthetics.
