Purchasing Executive (Purchasing Section)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    undertake the purchasing functions, including sourcing, quotation/tender solicitation, offer summary/analysis, liaison with users, negotiation with suppliers, tender report preparation, order placing and processing, supplier management, etc.;

(b)    ensure all purchases made are in compliance with the University’s purchasing policies and procedures;

(c)    compile purchasing management and statistical reports;

(d)    provide administrative support to the Unit; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a recognised degree, preferably in Purchasing and Supply Management or Business Administration or related disciplines;

(b)    at least two years of post-qualification work experience in purchasing or other related areas;

(c)    a good command of written English and Chinese, with effective verbal communication skills in English, Cantonese and Putonghua; 

(d)    good communication and interpersonal skills;

(e)    high proficiency in computer applications, including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint;

(f)     fast and accurate Chinese and English typing skills; and

(g)    a strong teamwork spirit, an analytical and meticulous mind, and the ability to work under pressure and accomplish tasks within tight schedule.

Preference will be given to those who have experience in public sector procurement gained from large organisations and experience in handling e-Tendering and other purchasing system.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
