The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) established the Department of Architecture under the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) on 1 July 2026. FCE is globally renowned for its excellence Architecture & Built Environment and Civil & Structural Engineering, ranked 21st and 18th worldwide respectively by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings by Subject in 2026. As a new dynamic hub for architectural innovation, the Department aims to consolidate FCE’s academic strengths, drive innovative education and research, attract global talent, and elevate both the Faculty’s and PolyU’s international standing in architecture and advanced technologies. Duties
The appointees will be required to:
(a) engage in teaching subjects in Architectural Studies and undertake related pedagogical activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
(b) contribute to programme/curriculum design, development and administration, and engage actively in scholarly activities;
(c) undertake departmental academic and administrative duties; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of the Unit or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a master’s degree in Architecture / Architectural Design or a related field, plus not less than nine years of post-qualification tertiary teaching experience and/or relevant professional, practical, or industrial experience;
(b) a high level of subject knowledge, skills and competence in academic or professional practice;
(c) a proven track record of excellence in teaching, professional service, and academic leadership, including experience in programme management;
(d) a strong academic and professional network in related fields; and
(e) exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
