Postdoctoral Fellow

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Federated AI agents: research and applications”.  He/she will be required to:

(a)    conduct research on federated learning, transfer learning, large language models (LLMs) and AI agents, and validating the outcomes in real-world application scenarios;

(b)    publish research outcomes in top AI conferences and journals;

(c)    draft and file invention patent applications arising from the project; 

(d)    assist the project leader in the preparation of research grant applications and project reports; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, Director of Unit or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application;

(b)    have solid academic background from a reputable University and well-aligned research experience in federated learning, transfer learning, large foundation models and/or LLM-based agents, etc.;

(c)    have experience in research proposal development and in drafting competitive research grant applications;

(d)    have strong publication records as leading author in top AI conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, KDD, ACL, TPAMI, TKDE);

(e)    have experience in, or demonstrated readiness for, the drafting and filing of invention patent applications;

(f)    have strong hands-on engineering capability in Python / PyTorch, distributed training and LLM or agent frameworks, and be able to work with real industrial data and production scenarios under confidentiality and privacy-compliance requirements;

(g)    have a good command of both English and Chinese; and

(h)    be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of an industry-academia collaborative team.
