Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “From tradition to tech: A holistic approach to sustainable fashion design and brand ecosystem management in the age of AI and digital platforms”. He/She will be required to:
(a) conduct research and practical development on wearable electronic materials and flexible devices tailored for AI-assisted design and smart fashion integration;
(b) assist in developing functional prototypes, focusing on conductive/functional materials, wearable sensors, flexible circuits and their seamless integration into textiles/apparel;
(c) perform physical, chemical, and electrical characterisations on new materials and wearable components, evaluating their durability, functionality, biocompatibility and sustainability;
(d) support the development of research outputs, including academic journal articles, patent applications, technical project reports and knowledge transfer documents;
(e) assist in coordinating project activities, including lab maintenance, equipment operation, supplier/industry engagement and academic seminars; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, Dean of School or their delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a doctoral degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics or related disciplines or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application;
(b) strong research background in one or more of the following areas: smart textiles, wearable electronics, AI applications in science and technology or cultural and creative industries;
(c) strong academic writing skill and the ability to prepare high-quality research papers, reports and presentations;
(d) good communication, organisational and project coordination skills; and
(e) the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research team.
