Duties
The appointees will assist the project leader in the ECS research project - “Tuning the brain: The impact of music training on speech perception in Cantonese”, investigating the relationship between music training and language processing. They will be required to:
(a) conduct behavioural tests and neuroimaging experiments on how music training affects speech perception;
(b) design and implement a short-term training study involving non-musicians to explore causal relationships;
(c) collect, analyse and manage project data;
(d) compile reports and papers for internal and external consumption, and disseminate research results; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a Master's degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences, or a relevant discipline;
(b) a solid background in psycho- and neurolinguistics, particularly with experience in ERP, fNIRS and other neuroimaging techniques;
(c) good teamwork and interpersonal skills; and
(d) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Conditions of Service
For full-time appointment(s), a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
For part-time appointment(s), the remuneration rates are $181 per hour for the post of Research Associate and $125 per hour for the post of Research Assistant.
