Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Exploring the online health information seeking behavior and types of information sought on traditional Chinese medicine among young adults in Hong Kong”.  They will be required to:

(a)    provide overall coordination and support to the project; 

(b)    liaise with healthcare practitioners, staff members and students regarding the development, implementation and evaluation of the project;

(c)    assist in the coordination of research activities and logistics arrangement for the project implementation;

(d)    provide guidance to part-time research students to facilitate their learning;

(e)    monitor and follow up on the progress of the project;

(f)     develop and implement the data collection instruments (both quantitative and qualitative);

(g)    conduct literature review and focus group interviews;

(h)    conduct various workforce health related activities;

(i)     assist in data entry and analysis and manage both quantitative and qualitative data of the project;

(j)     assist in preparing manuscripts for publications;

(k)    assist in preparing progress and final reports of the project; and

(l)     perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree in Computing, Information Science, Social Science, Psychology, Nursing, Public Health or other health-related or engineering-related disciplines or a good honours degree in one of the said disciplines with at least three years of research/project/relevant work experience.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree in one of the above-mentioned disciplines or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should also: 

(a)    have experience in project coordination and health promotion;

(b)    have an understanding of project execution in an educational setting;

(c)    have knowledge of research skills and ethics;

(d)    have knowledge of computer applications, such as SPSS, SAS, NVivo and Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, etc.;

(e)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(f)     have good interpersonal and communication skills; 

(g)    have a strong sense of self-motivation; and

(h)    be responsible and able to work independently.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.

For part-time appointment, the remuneration rates are HK$181 per hour for the post of Research Associate and HK$125 per hour for the post of Research Assistant.
