In line with the strategic development of the University and to lead the development of the aeronautical and aviation engineering discipline in teaching and research activities, the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering was established in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and actively engages in various research and consultancy work. Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) conduct high-quality and impactful research in aerospace materials and structures;
(b) develop an independent and sustainable research programme with the potential to attract external competitive funding;
(c) publish research findings in reputable international journals and present research at major international conferences;
(d) contribute to the teaching and development of subjects related to composite materials and structures, mechanics of materials, aerospace structures and materials, and other subjects related to materials and mechanics;
(e) support the activities related to knowledge transfer and industry engagement through Mainland Translational Research Institutes; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering or related disciplines;
(b) preferably have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience;
(c) have a proven research track record in materials or structural engineering appropriate to their career stage with high-quality peer-reviewed publications;
(d) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills using English as a medium of instruction;
(e) be highly proficient in written and spoken English; and
(f) have the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and collaborative academic environment.
Preference will be given to those with knowledge of composite materials and structures.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two to three years initially, with possibility of extension.
