Senior Facilities Officer (Building Maintenance)

Duties
The appointee will report to the Technical Services Section in the area of building maintenance and be required to:
(a) take responsibility for planned and preventive maintenance works to building fabrics and other building facilities;
(b) plan, organise, co-ordinate and supervise contractors to carry out daily and/or planned repairs and maintenance works for the building fabrics/fittings/fixture as well as building improvement and fit-out works;
(c) design and prepare specifications and drawings for maintenance and improvement works as well as assess and make recommendations on returned tenders;
(d) provide technical back-up and support to other sections of the Office for the University’s activities and functions when necessary;
(e) liaise with other sections of the Office, other units and contractors regarding the execution of assigned works;
(f) monitor the progress/quality of work performed/service provided by contractors, and arrange procurement of services and equipment/tools;
(g) perform shift duties including working on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays when required; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree, preferably in Building Surveying, Building Studies, Building Technology or a related engineering discipline plus at least five years of relevant work experience, or a higher diploma/higher certificate, preferably in one of the above disciplines plus at least eight years of relevant work experience;
(b) be familiar with Building (Minor Works) Regulation and have knowledge of the statutory requirements of health and safety;
(c) have sound knowledge of computer software including MS Office and AutoCAD;
(d) have good communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills;
(e) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(f) possess relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.
Preference will be given to those with substantial experience in building maintenance and/or some experience in tiling repair as well as leak repair to building fabrics.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
