Manager, Communications and Public Affairs (Branding and Marketing)

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and hands-on Manager to orchestrate branding and marketing efforts, delivering digital and social content for the Office in line with the University’s positioning and strategic priorities. The successful candidate will drive initiatives that position PolyU as an innovative, world-class University, promoting our excellence in education, research, knowledge transfer, and entrepreneurship for global societal impact. As a creative storyteller and digital strategist, he/she will play a pivotal role in amplifying PolyU’s brand locally, regionally, and internationally.
Duties
The appointee will play a key role in driving marketing communication strategies that support institutional branding and marketing to advance PolyU's reputation among target stakeholders. He/She will be required to:
(a) plan and implement brand communications strategies across digital and social media channels for the University, and execute results-driven online/offline marketing communication campaigns and activities, including the University’s 90th anniversary campaign and other related branding campaigns;
(b) lead, monitor and execute the University’s website revamp project especially liaising and coordinating with concerned internal stakeholders and suppliers, to ensure the project implementation and content updates meet the set requirements;
(c) translate the University’s goals and strategies into creative storytelling and compelling content in different forms such as presentations, marketing messages, creative copy, design layouts, visuals or videos;
(d) review, analyse, measure and evaluate digital and social media campaigns (including SEM, SEO, and GEO/AEO) against ROI/KPIs, manage relevant marketing budgets and suppliers, monitor project progress and recommend actions as needed;
(e) conduct market intelligence, review competitive benchmarking, provide data-driven insights, and suggest best practices for future planning;
(f) ensure content consistency across all owned publicity channels, related materials, and activities as a digital content champion in compliance with the University’s guidelines (brand, SEO, web, social media, etc.), and support the Office in providing guidance when appropriate; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Communications or other related disciplines;
(b) at least eight years of solid and hands-on experience in branding, digital marketing, social media, and marketing communications;
(c) in-depth and up-to-date know-how of the digital marketing and social media landscapes, paired with proven executional skills;
(d) strong business acumen, sharp analytical skills, and a proven track record of building brand awareness, engagement, and reputation, preferably in the higher education or frontier technology sectors;
(e) the ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment, balance multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines;
(f) exceptional communication skills when dealing with external and internal stakeholders of different seniority levels, including experience in vendor management;
(g) the ability to build strong, professional working relationships with diverse teams and individuals;
(h) high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(i) a flexible, proactive, self-motivated, mature approach, with a can-do mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
