Resident Clerk of Works

Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) monitor the standard of workmanship against the contract documents and good building practice in accordance with the relevant British Standard or Code of Practice as specified by the consultant(s);
(b) carry out routine inspections of the structural/building works, contractors’ setting out of all elements, samples and related documents against contract requirements to ensure conformity with the drawings, specifications and contract requirements, and report to project team members on all unsatisfactory works if necessary;
(c) monitor the progress of on-site works against the approved programme and all environment, health and safety aspects of the contractors’ works;
(d) report all non-compliance with safety procedures to the contractors’ representative and document them in the site record book;
(e) maintain the record of daily on-site activities and submit monthly returns to the parties concerned as required;
(f) liaise with project team members on all site matters and coordinate with the government departments and public utilities for the on-site works;
(g) attend all site inspections, progress meetings, site audits with follow-up for the corrective actions on non-compliance and witness on-site and off-site tests with recorded results in the site record book;
(h) carry out inspection of defects and outstanding works at the completion of the contact and advise the project team members concerning the rectification of defects by the contractor during the Defect Liability Period;
(i) perform duties during weekdays and alternate Saturdays regularly, and work outside office hours during weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays when required; and
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in building studies and at least five years of solid post-qualification experience and supervisory experience, or a Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in a related discipline plus at least eight years of solid post-qualification experience and supervisory experience;
(b) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(c) have good interpersonal and presentation skills.
Preference will be given to those with experience in supervising capital works.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Appointment will be on a two-year fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.
