Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) assist in the implementation of health and safety management programmes of the University, including but not limited to laboratory and research safety, dangerous goods management and hazardous wastes management, etc;
(b) perform inspections and risk assessments;
(c) perform laboratory tests and site monitoring;
(d) provide emergency response to incidents and conduct accident/incident investigations; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Unit or his/her delegates.
The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and/or outside Hong Kong occasionally when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Science, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene or a related discipline;
(b) have at least five years of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably gained in tertiary institutions, statutory bodies or government agencies, in the role of laboratory safety, regulatory or compliance responsibilities;
(c) have good knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and legal requirements;
(d) be proficient in computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
(e) have good interpersonal and communication skills; and
(f) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
