Assistant Scientific Officer

Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) manage and maintain GPU clusters, servers, and lab facilities, including system monitoring, resource scheduling, and user access management;
(b) handle medical data management, enforce access controls and compliance;
(c) support AI model development and biomedical analytics;
(d) conduct workshops and teaching sessions, including support students, update training materials, and coordinate teaching logistics;
(e) provide technical and administrative support to the General Office;
(f) assist in the implementation of health and safety policies of the University; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised master’s degree or above in Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Radiography or other related disciplines;
(b) strong programming skills (e.g., Python) and hands-on experience in GPU computing and machine learning/deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch/TensorFlow);
(c) practical experience in Linux systems and HPC/cloud environments (e.g., job scheduling, resource management, containers/virtual environments and coding workspaces);
(d) knowledge of clinical/biomedical data handling, including data governance, access control and good documentation practices;
(e) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Putonghua; and
(f) good interpersonal and communication skills.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
