Assistant Officer

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    provide secretarial support to the Head of Department, such as management of his/her calendar; 

(b)    handle confidential and sensitive matters, including HR-related administrative tasks, in a professional manner;

(c)    manage financial and accounting tasks, including overseeing procurement processes, handling reimbursements and claims, and checking invoices;

(d)    provide support for office administration to ensure the smooth daily operation of the Department;

(e)    provide logistic support to office meetings and various departmental activities / events;

(f)     liaise with the University's internal departments, external organisations, professional bodies, students and alumni, and handle enquiries; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should have: 

(a)    a recognised degree or an equivalent qualification, with at least three years of post-qualification work experience;

(b)    a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage;

(c)    excellent communication, organisation, problem-solving, and analytical skills;

(d)    strong attention to detail;

(e)    practical computer literacy, including proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Chinese word processing;

(f)     a positive working attitude and the ability to work well as a team player; and

(g)    strong self-motivation, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently.

Preference will be given to those with relevant solid experience in tertiary education sector.  

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test. 

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
