Research Associate / Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Prosociality as a natural sleeping pill? Examining the reciprocal relationship between acting kindly and sleeping well”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    assist in conducting various research activities, including online surveys, intervention studies, and ecological momentary assessment/intervention (EMA/EMI) studies;

(b)    assist in data management and statistical analyses;

(c)    assist in preparing academic manuscripts, reports and other research-related materials;

(d)    coordinate research activities and liaise with participants, collaborators and other stakeholders;

(e)    collaborate with research team members to ensure smooth implementation of the project; and

(f)     perform any other duties as assigned by Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or other related disciplines or a good honours degree in one of the said disciplines with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree in one of the above-mentioned disciplines or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should also:

(a) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Cantonese;

(b) have experience in academic writing, preferably with peer-reviewed publication record;

(c) be proficient in using statistical software, such as R, Mplus or SPSS, preferably with experience in structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling or intensive longitudinal data analysis;

(d) have strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively; and

(e) be self-motivated, reliable, responsible, well-organised and detail-minded.
