Part-time Research Associate

Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research projects – “A mixed-methods, longitudinal evaluation of multilingual simulation-based communication training for final year nursing and medical students in Hong Kong” and/or “Generative AI and health communication in Hong Kong: Proof of concept for developing a specialist large language model for patient-provider communication in services for autism spectrum disorder (ASD)”. These projects focus on clinical empathy and health communication. He/She will be required to:
(a) conduct various forms of data analysis for the project, including transcription, qualitative and statistical analysis of corpus and video data;
(b) conduct literature searches;
(c) prepare project reports; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegate(s).
Qualifications
Applicants should have a master’s degree or above in English Language Studies or Professional Communication. They should also have excellent communication skills in English and Chinese. Preference will be given to those with:
(a) previous experience in qualitative research;
(b) a good working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative approaches and methods;
(c) a demonstrable interest in literature and philosophy in relation to medicine;
(d) experience of working independently; and
(e) a high level of proficiency in English and Chinese (preferably including Cantonese and Putonghua).

Conditions of Service
The remuneration rate is HK$181 per hour.
