Assistant Officer / Executive Assistant

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    provide administrative and secretarial support to administrative committees, academic programmes, ad hoc working groups and research-related activities in the Department;

(b)    assist in organising departmental activities, conferences and seminars as well as coordinate visits for distinguished speakers and academic visitors;

(c)    liaise with other units of the University as well as external organisations; and

(d)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department or his delegates.

The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours occasionally.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Assistant Officer post should have a recognised degree plus not less than three years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably gained in education settings.

Applicants for the Executive Assistant post should have a recognised degree plus not less than one year of relevant post-qualification, preferably gained in education settings.

For both posts, applicants should also: 

(a)    have good computer literacy; 

(b)    have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as good liaison and organisational skills;

(c)    have high self-motivation and ability to complete tasks independently; 

(d)    be a good team player; and

(e)    have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test. 

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
