Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the project – “Quant cloud centre for AI in accounting and finance”.  He/She will also be required to:

(a)    assist in conducting research related to artificial intelligence, quantitative finance, financial technology, and market data analysis, including literature review, data collection, data cleaning, and preliminary analysis;

(b)    support the research team in developing and testing AI models, quantitative strategies, and agent-based research frameworks under the guidance of senior researchers and project leads; 

(c)    assist in preparing research materials, technical documentation, progress reports, presentation slides, and other academic or project-related documents; 

(d)    coordinate with AI algorithm engineers, quantitative researchers, development engineers, and academic collaborators to support the smooth implementation of research tasks; and

(e)    assist in organising research data, experiment results, model outputs, and project records to ensure proper documentation and traceability.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    an honours degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Financial Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or related fields;

(b)    basic understanding of AI models, machine learning, quantitative research, financial markets, or programming concepts; 

(c)    strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assist in both independent research tasks and team-based project work; and 

(d)    good written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English, with the ability to prepare clear research summaries and documentation.

Preference will be given to those with:

(a)    prior research experience in artificial intelligence, quantitative finance, financial technology, machine learning, or data analysis; and

(b)    experience with Python, data analysis tools, or academic research methods.
