Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Decoding sarcasm in Mandarin: A linguistic-phonetic approach”. He/She will be required to:
(a) recruit participants and collect Mandarin speech data;
(b) conduct speech data processing/segmentation/annotation;
(c) conduct various forms of data analysis for the project, including statistical analysis of assessment data and corpus data; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegate(s).
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have an honours degree or a master’s degree in Linguistics (phonetics);
(b) have experience working with speech data using Praat/Audacity;
(c) have good knowledge of phonetics and speech in general;
(d) have experience in using R programming language; and
(e) be native Mandarin speakers with high proficiency in English.
