Department of Health Technology and Informatics
Research Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellow (two posts)
(Ref. 260624001)
[Appointment period: each for twelve months]
The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University is searching for postdoctoral scholars. The laboratory focuses on cutting‐edge research at the intersection of medical images and genetics, developing and applying AI technology to large medical images and genetic data for understanding brain development and aging, and precision psychiatry.
In the past years, the laboratory has conducted various human studies on brain and cognitive development in children from birth to adulthood as well as brain aging. It has collected brain scans, cognitive and genetic data, as well as deep phenotypes of environmental factors of 60,000 subjects across multiple time points.
Our research laboratory has great computing capacity, including multiple H100 and A100 GPU systems for deep learning, and computing clusters for large dataset processing. In addition, the laboratory has more than 4000T medical data, including medical records, medical images, and pathological images, publishing more than 170 peer‐reviewed journal papers. Among them, 87% were published in the top 10% of peer‐reviewed journals, such as Nature Mental Health, PNAS, Medical Image Analysis, IEEE Transactions on medical image, Neuroimage, Cerebral Cortex, etc.
Duties
The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Deep neural networks for precision mental health”. They will be required to:
(a) develop AI and geometric deep learning approaches; and
(b) explore issues including imbalanced data, scalability, transfer, self‐supervision, etc., in prediction, inference, and planning with applications in medical images.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Research Fellow post should have a PhD degree with at least three years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications and experience.
Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a PhD degree and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.
Applicants should also have:
(a) a good track record of publications at major machine learning, AI or closely related conferences and journals; and
(b) good communication and writing skills in English.
Applicants are invited to contact Prof. Qiu Anqi via email at an-qi.qiu@polyu.edu.hk for further information.
