Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “The effects of music-with-movement (simultaneous cognitive-motor dual-task training) on cognitive and physical performance of people with potentially reversible cognitive frailty: a randomized controlled trial”. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join our clinical research team. The appointee will contribute to a range of innovative projects utilising gerontechnology to address the needs of older adults experiencing frailty-related conditions such as sarcopenia, sarcopenic obesity, physical frailty, and cognitive frailty. Our ultimate goal is to improve healthcare outcomes for frail older adults through impactful and rigorous clinical research. The appointee will be required to:
(a) design, conduct and manage clinical trials in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams;
(b) develop, maintain and ensure compliance with research protocols, standard operating procedures, and ethical/regulatory requirements;
(c) conduct literature reviews to inform study design and support research activities;
(d) oversee data management for ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality and security of all data throughout the research process;
(e) analyse research data and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
(f) present research findings at academic conferences, seminars and other professional forums;
(g) assist with grant writing and securing research funding for ongoing and future projects;
(h) mentor and supervise research assistants and junior team members, providing training as needed;
(i) engage with stakeholders, including non-governmental organisations, participants and collaborators, to facilitate project progress and knowledge translation;
(j) monitor project budgets and manage resources efficiently; and
(k) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School, project leader or their delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a doctoral degree in Nursing, Biostatistics, Nutrition, Gerontology or other health-related disciplines or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application;
(b) proven experience in designing and conducting clinical trials;
(c) strong background in statistical analysis and research methodology;
(d) proficiency in research software and tools, including SPSS, R, Excel, EndNote, NVivo and Microsoft Office, including Chinese word processing;
(e) demonstrated ability to prepare manuscripts and publish in peer-reviewed journals;
(f) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;
(g) strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams;
(h) experience in mentoring or supervising junior team members or research assistants;
(i) knowledge of research ethics, regulatory compliance and data management best practices; and
(j) strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preference will be given to those with strong proficiency in Cantonese.
