Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) assist in the development of new subjects for the Service Design programme, including contributing to the design of course content and assessments;
(b) collaborate with the academic team to ensure the curriculum aligns with industry standards and emerging trends in service design, customer experience (CX) and strategic design;
(c) provide input and insights based on expertise in service design methodologies to enhance the quality and relevance of the programme content;
(d) work closely with the programme coordinator and faculty members to facilitate a smooth transition into the new programme as well as offering support in various administrative and educational tasks;
(e) support in the preparation and coordination of the admission exercise for the Service Design programme, including reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and evaluating portfolios;
(f) engage with prospective students to provide information about the programme, answer inquiries and assist with the admissions process;
(g) contribute to the planning and execution of promotional events and activities related to the Service Design programme; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a master’s degree in a relevant field related to service design, strategic design, user experience (UX)/CX design, or human-centered design plus not less than five years of post-qualification experience in tertiary teaching and/or professional practice within the service design industry or innovation consulting;
(b) demonstrate expertise and proficiency in the following areas essential to service design:
• proficiency in service design tools and frameworks (e.g. customer journey mapping, service blueprinting, stakeholder mapping and persona development);
• experience in both qualitative and quantitative design research methods (e.g. ethnographic research, in-depth interviews, co-creation workshops and usability testing);
• knowledge of systems thinking and organisational design;
• ability to design omni-channel service experiences by combining physical and digital touchpoints;
• expertise in facilitating participatory design and co-design sessions with diverse stakeholders; and
• proficiency in collaborative design and prototyping software (e.g. Figma, Miro, Mural, and Adobe Creative Cloud) tailored for service concept visualisation and prototyping.
(c) showcase the capacity to conduct tutorials, workshops and assessments within the service design and design thinking domain;
(d) demonstrate a keen ability to develop curriculum and convert materials to suit the unique requirements of service design and strategic innovation education; and
(e) possess exceptional oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
