Research Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Apparel Technology

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    conduct research in the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Apparel Technology as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, Innovation and Technology Fund and other competitive external fund, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;

(b)    provide supervision to MPhil or PhD students;

(c)    provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level; 

(d)    contribute to the School’s service; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the designated project leader, Dean of School or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Apparel Technology or a related discipline, preferably with at least two years of postdoctoral research experience;

(b)    solid experience in university teaching and/or excellent record in academic and research achievement in AI, particularly its application in fashion and textile design or related areas;

(c)    high-impact research and publication record in high quality scholarly journals or strong potential to publish in top-tier refereed journals;

(d)    strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and professional service; and    

(e)    excellent communication skills and be able to use English as the medium of instruction.

Preference will be given to those with strong research orientation and a good teaching record.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two to three years initially, with possibility of extension.
