Part-time Project Associate

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the project - “AI and immersive technologies for seamless, student-centred learning and teacher professional growth in secondary schools”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    act as the lead instructor on immersive learning activities with the use of CAVE/HiVE immersive environments;

(b)    plan and deliver hands on workshops for secondary school students and teachers on 360 degree video shooting, including storyboarding, on site filming, and safe operation of 360-degree cameras in school and community settings;

(c)    teach and supervise 360 degree video editing, including stitching, basic post production, adding titles, audio and simple effects, and preparing content for projection in CAVE/HiVE or online platforms;

(d)    facilitate debriefing and reflection discussions that connect immersive experiences to subject learning;

(e)    develop clear step by step guides, checklists and teaching materials on 360-degree filming and editing for the use of schools;

(f)    coordinate logistics and technical arrangements with the CAVE/HiVE operations team on the format of content, scheduling, safety and accessibility for school groups;

(g)    provide on site coaching to student groups during filming and editing in giving feedback on both technical quality and storytelling/subject relevance; 

(h)    support project evaluation and dissemination by collecting examples of student work, and support showcase/sharing sessions;

(i)    handle documentation of good practices in immersive and 360 degree video based teaching; and

(j)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a master’s degree in Educational Technology, Media/Communication or other related disciplines or a good honours degree in one of the above-mentioned disciplines with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.

(b)    have substantial hands on experience in 360 degree/VR video production, including camera operation, filming on location and post production editing for projection or headset based viewing;

(c)    have relevant professional experience in technology enhanced or media based learning;

(d)    have proven experience in teaching secondary or tertiary students and/or teachers in media production, immersive technologies or related areas;

(e)    possess strong communication skills in English and Chinese;

(f)    be able to explain technical workflows in simple, classroom friendly terms to both students and teachers; 

(g)    be well organised, and able to manage multiple school visits, workshops and editing cycles; and

(h)    be a good team player.

Preference will be given to those with experience in using or supporting large scale immersive environments, e.g. CAVE, HiVE or similar multi projection VR systems for teaching and learning activities.

Conditions of Service

The remuneration rate is HK$181 per hour.
