Teaching Fellow (Temporary Appointment)

[Appointment period: two months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    undertake teaching duties at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervise students’ projects and theses;

(b)    engage in teaching, learning and scholarly activities;

(c)    contribute to programme/course planning, departmental administration and development; 

(d)    play an active role in engaging prospective students to learn about the new academic programmes; 

(e)    assist in organisation of student activities/competitions, training workshops to promote students’ learning experience; and

(f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should:

(a)    have a PhD degree in Engineering or a relevant first degree plus a higher degree in the relevant disciplines with at least three years of post-qualification teaching/professional/industrial experience;

(b)    possess good subject knowledge, skills and competence of the discipline; 

(c)    demonstrate competence in performing administrative duties related to teaching;

(d)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English with effective classroom teaching skills as well as a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service; and

(e)    have good teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Service
