Photographer (Multimedia)

[to be appointed at the substantive level of Assistant Technical Officer]

Duties 

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    provide photography services for academic and non-academic units of the University, covering events, ceremonies, publicity activities, campaigns, portraits and campus life;

(b)    coordinate photography requests and schedules to support the communications and publicity needs of the units;

(c)    produce photo and short-form video content for print, online and social media platforms in line with the University’s brand guidelines;

(d)    edit and prepare images for various platforms, including retouching, colour correction and cropping;

(e)    support basic video shooting and editing for interviews, event highlights and social media content;

(f)     maintain photography and videography equipment, and assist in inventory control;

(g)    manage filing, tagging and archiving of photo and video materials in the Office’s digital asset library; and 

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a recognised diploma or above in Photography, Film, Creative Media, Multimedia Design or related disciplines, with at least three years of relevant experience, preferably in institutional, corporate or event photography;

(b)    possess solid technical knowledge of digital photography, lighting and equipment operation in event settings;

(c)    be proficient in photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom or related software;

(d)    have practical experience in basic video shooting and editing using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, with knowledge of motion graphics being an advantage;

(e)    have a good visual sense and storytelling ability;

(f)     be self-motivated, detail-minded and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;

(g)    possess good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(h)    be willing to work outside normal office hours, including weekends and public holidays, when required.

Applicants must provide a photography portfolio (website or PDF), preferably including event photography samples, and selected video samples or a showreel demonstrating basic shooting and editing skills.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
