Duties
The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Inclusivity assessment of public spaces for older adults' physical activity in megacities: A comparative study of Hong Kong and Shenzhen”. They will be required to:
(a) conduct systematic literature reviews on ageing-friendly public spaces, physical activity among older adults and cross-city comparative studies;
(b) recruit older adult participants for observations, surveys or focus groups;
(c) coordinate and conduct fieldwork at selected public spaces (e.g. parks, walking trails, sitting areas);
(d) manage quantitative data (e.g. activity counts, survey responses) and qualitative data (e.g. field notes, interview transcripts);
(e) perform geospatial and statistical analysis;
(f) prepare academic papers for submission to high-quality journals in transport studies and/or interdisciplinary social science; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, the Head of Unit or their delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application. Preference will be given to those with a PhD degree in Geography, Transport Studies or cognate fields, such as Urban Planning, Sociology or Public Health, together with relevant experience.
Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification.
Preference will be given to those with:
(a) a track record of publications in high quality journals;
(b) experience in qualitative and mixed-methods research methodologies, including, but not limited to, interviews, go-along interviews, video diaries, focus groups and participatory mapping; and
(c) an in-depth understanding of theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of older adults' mobility.

Conditions of Service
For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
For part-time appointment, the remuneration rate for the post of Research Assistant is HK$125 per hour.
