Project Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the project - “Movable AI-driven platform (MAP) to overcome challenges in work-based learning (WBL) in higher education”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    build and integrate AI services for web/content management system (CMS) solutions, including prompt templates/workflows, data processing and rapid prototyping;

(b)    build and refine AI-enabled communication features (e.g. chatbot/robot-style interactions), including conversation flow design and Q&A knowledge base management;

(c)    develop and maintain web-based and/or CMS-based applications to support teaching and learning initiatives;

(d)    develop and maintain backend services and databases as needed;

(e)    prepare technical documentation and basic user guides and provide troubleshooting support for internal users; and

(f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering or other related disciplines or an equivalent qualification;

(b)    possess solid programming skills, preferably in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python;

(c)    have experience in web development (front-end and/or back-end) and application programming interface (API) integration; preferably with experience in CMS;

(d)    be familiar with AI-related development concepts (e.g. prompt design, model integration and evaluation) and/or have hands-on experience using OpenAI or similar AI tools/APIs;

(e)    have knowledge of modern software deployment models, including cloud-hosted services (SaaS) and/or containerised on-premise deployment (e.g. Docker), with basic understanding of security and access control practices;

(f)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua; and

(g)    be self-motivated, well-organised, detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks independently.
