Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) plan and organise events and activities of the University and the Research Centre for Chinese History and Culture (Research Centre) relating to the promotion of Chinese culture, such as the PolyU Chinese Culture Festival, summer workshops, seminars, academic conferences, etc.;
(b) work closely with internal departments and administrative units, as well as external parties and organisations, in implementing various events and activities;
(c) liaise with partner institutions and collaborating units of the Research Centre on joint research, education and knowledge transfer activities;
(d) provide administrative, logistical and liaison support for official delegations to the Chinese Mainland and overseas;
(e) provide secretarial service to committees and meetings, including the Research Centre’s Advisory Committee;
(f) provide professional administrative support for matters relating to the Centre;
(g) assist in the preparation of the Centre’s budget plans, annual reports and financial reports;
(h) provide support for publicity work and prepare news write-ups for publication;
(i) supervise junior staff in day-to-day operations and activities; and
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department and the Centre Director or their delegates.
The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and/or travel outside Hong Kong occasionally.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree plus not less than five years of relevant experience, preferably gained in tertiary institutions;
(b) demonstrate strong problem-solving and leadership skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently;
(c) have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
(d) have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; fluency in Putonghua is required;
(e) have sound administrative, interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills;
(f) have a positive working attitude and the ability to work effectively as a team member; and
(g) have a proactive and result-oriented approach, with the ability to formulate and implement plans independently and work under pressure.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
