Assistant Officer

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    provide administrative support to academic and research programmes and activities, including but not limited to admission, subject registration, timetabling, examination and other teaching related activities;

(b)    provide support to the planning, operation, development and quality assurance of academic and research programmes; 

(c)    liaise with academic units, central administrative units, stakeholders and students in handling academic programmes and department-related matters, and organising student learning activities and departmental events; 

(d)    provide administrative support to student scholarships and awards; 

(e)    support general office administration;

(f)     provide secretarial and administrative service to committees, working groups and meetings on teaching-related activities; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a recognised degree;

(b)    have at least three years of post-qualification experience;

(c)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage;

(d)    have good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing;

(e)    be highly-organised and attentive to details; and

(f)     be able to initiate appropriate actions, work independently and handle sensitive matters with alertness and care.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
