Assistant Technical Officer

Duties 

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    perform routine maintenance and ensure smooth operation of the clinical skills laboratories and specialty laboratories; 

(b)    facilitate laboratory-based teaching and learning activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students; 

(c)    provide technical support in simulation classes;

(d)    implement health and safety policies of the University;

(e)    assist in inventory control, stock taking and purchase;

(f)     handle learning materials and equipment loan;

(g)    supervise junior staff members of the laboratories; and

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work outside office hours and on Saturdays and Sundays.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a recognised degree in health care or relevant disciplines, or a higher/professional diploma in the said disciplines plus at least three years of relevant experience; 

(b)    be recognised as “a person trained in first aid” under the Occupational Safety and Health Regulation (Cap. 509A) and maintain such status throughout his/her service with the University;

(c)    have good knowledge of healthcare simulation and virtual/augmented reality technologies; 

(d)    have good knowledge of health and safety practices; and

(e)    have good knowledge and skills in information technology and computer applications.

Preference will be given to those with a Certificate of Registration (Part I) and a valid practising certificate issued by the Nursing Board/Council of Hong Kong.  

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
