Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Epigenetic regulation and glaucoma – the effect of DNA methylation inhibition of thrombospondin 1 on aqueous humor dynamics”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    perform gene editing, RT-PCR, western blot analysis, confocal microscopy and electrophysiological experiments;

(b)    perform animal work and data analysis; 

(c)    perform plasmid construction and extraction, siRNA construction, cell transfection, cell flow cytometry and primary cell culture; 

(d)    prepare academic manuscript for publication and project proposals; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Life Science, Physiology or an equivalent qualification;

(b)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(c)    be a good team player and able to work independently; and

(d)    be self-motivated and organised.

Preference will be given to those with at least three years of research/relevant work experience or at least two years of mice handling research experience.
