Technical Assistant

Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) assist technicians in preparing laboratory classes/workshops in Biology or Chemistry;
(b) assist in cleaning up and supporting day-to-day operation of biology and chemistry laboratories, e.g. washing and sterilising various apparatus;
(c) assist in the purchase of consumables and materials for teaching laboratories;
(d) manage the stock of consumables; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.
The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours occasionally.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have five passes in HKCEE including English language (at least Grade C if Syllabus A; Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards), Chinese Language (Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards), Mathematics and Chemistry; or a combination of results in five HKDSE subjects of Level 2 in New Senior Secondary subjects / “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects / Grade E in Other Language subjects, and the five subjects must include English Language, Chinese Language, Mathematics, and Chemistry;
(b) have good interpersonal and communication skills;
(c) be able to work independently, with a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation;
(d) be able to follow instructions carefully and report task progress in a proactive manner; and;
(e) have a fair command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua being an advantage.
Preference will be given to those who have (i) a recognised certificate/diploma in Chemistry/Biology issued by a tertiary institution; and/or (ii) IT skills; and/or (iii) working experience in handling chemicals and equipment maintenance.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
