Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Tuning the brain: the impact of music training on speech perception in Cantonese”, investigating the relationship between music training and language processing. He/She will be required to:
(a) conduct behavioral tests and neuroimaging experiments on music training affecting speech perception;
(b) design and implement a short-term training study involving non-musicians to explore causal relationships;
(c) collect, analyse, and manage project data;
(d) compile reports and papers for internal and external consumption, and disseminate research results; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a PhD degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Science, or a relevant discipline, and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application;
(b) a solid background in psycho- and neurolinguistics, particularly with experience in ERP, fNIRS and other neuroimaging techniques;
(c) good teamwork and interpersonal skills; and
(d) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
