Duties
We are building a domain-specific Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) devoted exclusively to hepatocellular carcinoma. The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Precision diagnosis and treatment and clinical translation framework for hepatocellular carcinoma based on multimodal large language model”. They will be required to:
(a) explore advanced techniques on MLLMs that jointly model radiology images, pathology slides, genomics data and clinical narratives for hepatocellular carcinoma;
(b) establish secure, regulatory-compliant development platforms capable of ingesting, curating, and continuously learning from multi-center hepatocellular carcinoma datasets;
(c) create innovative algorithms/systems based on the hepatocellular carcinoma-MLLM for precision diagnosis, personalised treatment recommendation, survival prediction and real-world clinical translation; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, the Head of Unit or their delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Research Fellow / Project Fellow post should have a doctoral degree plus at least three years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications and experience.
Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.
Applicants for the Research Associate / Project Associate post should have a master’s degree or a good honours degree with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.
Applicants for the Research Assistant / Project Assistant post should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification.
For all posts, applicants should have:
(a) demonstrated expertise in multimodal learning;
(b) strong self-directed learning capacity to assimilate foundational hepatology and oncology knowledge; and
(c) commitment to open, reproducible and ethically responsible medical AI research.

Conditions of Service
For full-time appointment(s), a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
For part-time appointment(s), the remuneration rates for the posts of Research Fellow/Project Fellow, Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Associate/Project Associate and Research Assistant/Project Assistant are HK$394 per hour, HK$385 per hour, HK$181 per hour and HK$125 per hour respectively.
