Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Nursing

Established in 1977, the School of Nursing supports the mission of the University by nurturing graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders.  It ranks 16th for the best School of Nursing internationally (QS Ranking 2025).  The education, research, consultancy and integrative health services are driven by a commitment to improve health of the community.  Currently, it has a total of around 80 full-time faculty members.  We welcome candidates from all nursing disciplines, including critical care, mental health, as well as prevention and infection control.

Duties

The appointee will be required to: 

(a) provide quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise student projects and theses;

(b) conduct research that leads to publications in refereed journals and award of research grants;

(c) engage in applied research, creative development and consultancy projects in relation to health care related activities;

(d) contribute to the development of the School’s relevant research theme and participate in its activities;

(e) contribute to departmental activities and management;

(f) render professional service to the community and support activities that promote or foster links with the profession in the industry and/or in the community; and

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegates.

Applicants for appointment at Professor level should enhance his/her own international academic impact, play an active role in international academic exchange, and engage in services that contribute to the development of the School.

Qualifications 

Applicants should have: 

(a) a PhD degree in Nursing or a relevant discipline with substantial years of relevant experience;

(b) professional nursing qualifications;

(c) a substantial record and reputation as an accomplished teacher with significant contribution to curriculum development / review or teaching and learning processes;

(d) an established track record in research and scholarship, including refereed publications, external grants and postgraduate supervision; and

(e) demonstrated academic management and leadership capabilities.

Applicants for appointment at Professor level should demonstrate a strong background in research in one of the school research themes with an international academic profile.  They should also demonstrate excellent international reputation in research and possess an excellent record of academic leadership and research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research.  Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor/Assistant Professor. The job duty requirements and expectation would be in line with the appointed grade.

Preference will be given to those who are registrable with The Nursing Council of Hong Kong.

Conditions of Service
