Senior Manager (Entrepreneurship)

Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) develop incubation centres dedicated to nurturing start-ups and assisting in realizing their business models;
(b) maintain connections with partners in both the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong for networking and facilitation of programme / project execution;
(c) identify and launch new initiatives and projects pertaining to entrepreneurship, knowledge transfer and commercialisation in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) or other strategic locations in the Chinese Mainland;
(d) oversee the organisation and execution of entrepreneurial funding or competition programmes / events in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland;
(e) plan and monitor joint entrepreneurial activities with partnering associations / stakeholders within or outside PolyU campus and its Mainland Translational Research Institutes;
(f) support PolyU stakeholders in their efforts to develop and enhance initiatives related to entrepreneurship, knowledge transfer and commercialisation;
(g) supervise junior staff in day-to-day administrative work and activities and provide advice to subordinates; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship or his/her delegates.
Working on irregular hours including weekday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays, and occasional travel outside Hong Kong may be required.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline. Possession of MBA and/or professional qualifications would be advantageous;
(b) have a minimum of eight years of experience in entrepreneurship development, incubation, innovation and R&D, including working in venture capital, start-up company, incubator, activities and competitions, and the higher education sector;
(c) have strong communication and presentation skills with an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, and fluency in Putonghua;
(d) have excellent network with the key stakeholders in start-up development in the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and the GBA;
(e) have experience in mentoring/coaching/working with early-stage companies in the areas of product development, business plan, raising capital, marketing, and management. Experience in University research commercialisation would be advantageous;
(f) be a good team player, proactive and dedicated to work;
(g) have a positive can-do attitude, be creative, highly independent and motivated;
(h) be able to work under pressure and meet tight schedules with project management capability; and
(i) have good computer literacy and be willing to learn.
Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate good analytical, marketing and leadership skills.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
