Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research projects - “Well-being of early career academics in Hong Kong: A longitudinal mixed methods study”, “Problematic internet use among rural Chinese children: A longitudinal mixed methods study based on multiple informants” and/or “The impact of school connectedness on Internet addiction: A longitudinal quantitative study among Chinese adolescents”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    provide assistance to the administration of the projects;

(b)    assist in coordinating data collection and recruitment of participants;

(c)    assist in conducting research and evaluative studies;

(d)    conduct data collection and analysis;

(e)    draft reports and papers related to the projects; and

(f)     perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

The appointees may occasionally be required to work on irregular hours including weekday evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health or other related disciplines.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree, preferably in one of the above-mentioned disciplines.

Applicants should also:

(a)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(b)    be proficient in using statistical software such as Mplus, R and SPSS;

(c)    have good interpersonal and organisational skills; and

(d)    be a good team player and able to work independently.

Preference will be given to those with experience in research.
