Project Associate

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Evidence-driven analytics for civil engineering education: enhancing student success and curriculum quality”. He/She will be required to:

(a)    assist in the general coordination/management of the project; 

(b)    conduct research using educational and student data, including data integration, cleaning and exploratory analysis;

(c)    develop and apply analytics models, dashboards, and reporting tools to generate actionable insights, with flexibility to adapt methods as project needs evolve;

(d)    assist in pilot evaluation, benchmarking, and reporting of project outcomes;

(e)    contribute to academic writing, including papers, proposals and documentation; and

(f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work on irregular hours including evenings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Educational Technology, Civil/Environmental Engineering or a related discipline, or a good honours degree in one of the said disciplines with at least three years of relevant research/work experience; 

(b)    have experience in data analytics, statistical modelling or educational data mining;

(c)    have good academic writing skills in English, with the ability to draft reports and proposals. Prior publications in refereed journals will be considered an advantage; 

(d)    possess good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines; 

(e)    show strong enthusiasm for research and good self-motivation; and

(f)    be responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
